What I want parents to know:

“Preschool education is important. It is the foundation of learning and the foundation of anything is very important. The Sonshine School program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children (3-5 years). It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical and creative development. Within our daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem solving and personal interaction skills and learn concepts through first-hand experiences. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self- and teacher-directed activities. We strive to have a warm and inviting environment which is responsive to each child’s needs. We respect parents as the primary and most important provider of care and nurturing, and we believe parents and teachers are partners in children’s care and education.”

I believe, at this age, it’s important for children to learn through play and hands-on activities/experiences which engage all of their senses as they soak in the world around them. I will do my best to ensure they soak in God’s love for them as well. One of my favorite parts of Vacation Bible School is teaching the children about God sightings and then hearing how each child encounters in God in their own way.”

The staff genuinely care about your children by making them feel welcomed and loved as soon as they enter the building. The teachers strive to foster a love of learning through song, art, learning centers, activities and play. They desire the children to have fun and connect socially with one another while maintaining structure in the classroom. I appreciate that there is Chapel once a month and that every day the kids are taught God’s word through bible stories and songs. Children are so precious and little for such a short time. I am honored that I will be able to share in their preschool experience!”.

What I want Parents to know:

“I always loved school and I always wanted to be a teacher!  As a little girl I never played ‘house’, I played ‘school’.  If you came to my house to play, I was going to teach you!  After college I went down to Mexico for 10 years and taught various grades from preschool through adults.  I quickly learned that ANYBODY can learn ANYTHING if there is the desire and the conditions are right.  And as a teacher there is nothing better than seeing that ‘Aha! Moment’ for a child when a concept is finally learned.  Children are such a blessing! Psalm 127:3 says, ‘Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.’  As a Christian educator I desire to be a positive and godly influence to each and every child that comes into my classroom while teaching them the necessary skills to grow and develop into the person that God has created them to be.”
